Mokkit vs PostSpark

PostSpark does a lot: 30+ device frames, annotations, code screenshots, a Chrome extension, cloud storage, and GIF export. Mokkit does less, on purpose. Here is where each tool makes sense.

The honest take

PostSpark has been building features aggressively. They have text overlays, stickers, arrows, a VS Code extension for code screenshots, Unsplash integration, bulk editing, and cloud storage for thousands of images. It is a broad tool that tries to cover every visual content use case from device mockups to social media posts to documentation screenshots.

The tradeoff is complexity. PostSpark's interface has a lot going on, and it takes time to figure out where things are. Mokkit is intentionally narrower: device mockups, backgrounds, effects, and animation. That is all it does, and the UX is built around making those four things fast and intuitive. Every feature is accessible from the sidebar without hunting through menus.

Pricing is also different. PostSpark charges a single $12/month for their Pro plan. Mokkit starts at $7/month for Pro (which includes WebP, 4K exports, and video) with Pro Max at $12 for transparent video and 60fps. And on Mokkit, you can preview every feature for free before deciding to pay.

When to use PostSpark

If you need text overlays, annotations, or stickers on your mockups, PostSpark has them and we don't. If you want to screenshot code from VS Code directly into a device frame, PostSpark has an extension for that. If you need cloud storage for thousands of images, or GIF export, PostSpark covers those too. It is the right tool if you want a single app that handles everything from mockups to social posts to documentation visuals.

When to use Mokkit

If you want a simpler, more focused tool that does device mockups well without the feature sprawl. Mokkit's interface is two sidebars: media and effects on the left, camera and layout on the right. No menus to dig through, no modes to switch between.

If you want granular animation control. Mokkit's keyframe timeline lets you set per-keyframe before/after transitions with individual easing curves, overlap keyframes for smooth direct transitions, and preview the full animation before exporting.

If you want video and high-res exports at a lower price. Mokkit Pro at $7/month includes what PostSpark charges $12/month for. And on Mokkit, you can build your entire composition, including gated features, and only hit the paywall at export.

If you want to start from a template. Mokkit's template hub lets you browse, filter, and preview templates before applying. Load a template, drop your screenshots into the placeholder frames, and export. PostSpark has social post templates, but Mokkit's templates are built around device mockup compositions.

Pricing

PostSpark has one paid tier at $12/month. Mokkit splits it into Pro at $7/month (4K exports, 30fps video, WebP, 10 video exports/month) and Pro Max at $12/month (6K, 60fps, unlimited video, transparent WebM). If you only need image exports and occasional video, Mokkit Pro saves you $5/month.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mokkit a PostSpark replacement?

They overlap on device mockups and video export, but serve different needs. PostSpark is a Swiss Army knife with annotations, code screenshots, stickers, cloud storage, and browser extensions. Mokkit is a focused mockup and animation tool. If you need text overlays and annotation, use PostSpark. If you want polished device mockups with fine-tuned animation, try Mokkit.

Does PostSpark have a free plan?

PostSpark has a free tier with basic features. Their Pro plan unlocks video export, animations, and premium devices. They charge a single $12/month tier. Mokkit's Pro starts at $7/month with video, WebP, and 4K exports included.

Can I try everything for free on Mokkit?

Yes. Every feature is available to preview: all devices, backgrounds, effects, animations. You only see the upgrade prompt when you export. PostSpark gates some features behind Pro before you can even try them.

Does Mokkit support annotations or text overlays?

No. Mokkit focuses on device mockups, backgrounds, effects, and animation. If you need to add text, arrows, or stickers, PostSpark or Figma are better options for that part of the workflow.

Which tool has better animation controls?

PostSpark offers jump cuts, timeline snapping, and easing controls. Mokkit's keyframe timeline gives you individual control over each transition's duration, easing, and overlap. Both support video export. Mokkit's approach is more granular if you want to fine-tune every motion.
